French Braided Bun

This is a pretty and easy hair style to do as long as you are familiar with the technique of French braiding!

These are some instructions on how to arrange your hair into a beautiful French braided bun:

Step 1. Make two French braids on both sides of your head similar to the way you do pigtails. You can start anywhere you want, e.g. behind the hairline or other places.
Step 2. When the braids are finished, tie the ends of your braids off.
Step 3. Wrap one of the braids into a bun and then wrap another braid around the first bun.
Step 4. Secure the bun with bobby pins or claw clips.

Enjoy your hair style for a long time because it is very secure and will last on your head for a good day if not more.

You can leave the tips of the braids loose and arrange them up your head similar to this:

Chinese Bun

I decided to make several experiments with hair buns. The first experiment is Chinese Bun. I'm sure most of you have already tried this hair style or others like this. But this is the first time I do it, so please don't be too strict to me. I'll try to explain the steps I've done to arrange hair in Chinese Bun:

1. Arrange your hair in a ponytail. You can place the ponytail high or low, this makes no big difference. It's just to your preferences.

2. Put a hairstick horizontally in the root of the tail.

3. The next step is to divide hair into two equal parts. Put each part up, over and behind the hairstick.

4. Wrap the hair parts in opposite directions around the ponytail holder and loop around the hairstick.

5. Add hair pins, scrunchie, or other holders that will secure the bun on top or underneath.

Hair Bun With Ponytail

How to make a hair bun with ponytail

Most probably, you've tried some similar hairstyles and won't find anything new here. But for me, this was a pretty new style to try on.

Here are several instructional steps on how to arrange your hair into a beautiful, yet simple hair bun with ponytail.

1. Make a half up ponytail closer to the top of your head. Part hair from ears and back, it must be about the half of your hair size. This is the part that will represent your pony tail in the completed hair style. Secure your ponytail with an elastic rubber or hair pin.

2. Take hair from below, and make a cinnamon bun around your ponytail (twist your hair aroung the middle of the ponytail).

3. Once the bun is completed, secure it with hair pins or sticks.

Here's the hairstyle you will get:

Also, as a variant of this hair style that makes your bun look really huge, you can take your ponytail hair and twist it around the bun again and put all the hair into one big bun. Secure the bun with hair pins or use sticks.

Shampoo Tips

1. Don't drown in shampoo. One sudsing with a quarter-size squeeze will be fine.
2. Don't vigorously rub braids or weaves but do rinse in cascades of water to clean.
3. Do wash more frequently if you have itching, flaking or dandruff. These conditions are not due to dryness.
4. Do thoroughly rinse out conditioner, or the residue will dirty your hair faster.
5. Don't wash hair more often than you need to. Contrary to advertising, hair types with a dry tendency (for example gray or African-American hair) may need washing only once a week.
6. Don't use the hottest setting on the hair dryer; use it over time, it's damaging.
7. Do allow hair sometimes to air-dry, then arrange it with your fingers. Use gels, mousses and lotions to calm it.
8. Don't brush wet hair. Use a wide-tooth comb, starting at the bottom, to ease out tangles.

Static Hair - Get Rid Of It

With very long hair, electrostatic can be a real burden. Your hair either sticks to everything, or really flees your head - creating those awful fly-aways. What do to? Well, there are several ways to help you.

Static can be very strong in wintertime. The reason for it is the dry air - with temperatures below freezing point, the air inside our homes gets very dry due to the heating. Get yourself one of those humidifiers, several models are available in the price range from like USD 25 up to quite some more bucks. They evaporate normal drain water, either by cooking small amounts of water, or by ultrasonic vapor mechanisms. There is no difference in the effect, except the ultrasonic types produce kind of a cold fog, and the cooking devices produce steam (careful here, don't touch the outcoming steam).

By using a humidifier, you get the air in your home back to normal humidity levels, and you will find that with increased humidity, the static will be reduced. For those of you with curly hair, your curls will get stronger with higher humidity.

If your hair is charged with static, brushing your hair is a nightmare. Static does more damage than anything, even with "static free" brushes. A solution is to rub a dryer softener sheet over the brush, and even down the wake of the hair, before brushing. It does wonders and cuts down of tangles!

Last tip: if you still have trouble with static, investigate on your hair care products. Some shampoos wash your hair so squeak clean, that all natural oils disappear - they protect your hair shaft, and prevent static, too. If you do not wish to change your products, use jojoba oil after washing to add the natural amount of oil to your hair.

If you can't seem to get rid of static, have a look at your wardrobe. Chemical fibers are apt to cause static - most important are viscose and polyester. Switching to natural (and electrically neutral) fibers like cotton, silk or wool also helps a lot in getting rid of static.

Original Braid

Comb hair to the nape. Use hair spray or hair foam and comb once again.
Part your hair on the temple from the right side and start braiding. Divide the lock on the temple into 3 parts and twist it to the classical braid, step by step braid new locks into the hair. Thus make the braid till your left ear. Then go on braiding, streaming it to the right side – to the right ear. After this, change the direction and go on braiding.

Fix the hair with hair spray.

How To French Braid Hair (description)

There are two ways to French braid hair: ordinary and backward braiding.

Let’s see how to get an ordinary French braid. Thoroughly brush dry or slightly wet hair and comb it back. To begin the braid, start by dividing it into 3 equal pieces.

Hold the right most piece in the right hand. The other two pieces will be in your left hand. Begin with rolling your left hand crossing the left piece over the central piece and passing them both into your right hand.

Take the lower piece in your left hand and put the right strand over the top. Starting with this left strand, we’ll add more hair into the braid. This will be French braiding. Take the hair into your left hand and cross it over on the top of the other two. Take with your left hand a new portion of hair and bring it over the top of the last braided piece. This will make one bigger strand. Go on braiding in a usual way. Grab a small amount of hair from the right side and act in the same way as you did with the left strand. Don’t forget to keep the braid tight not to lose it.

Classical Braid

One or two braids can be done in the manner described below.
If you want to braid your hair, the first thing you should do is thoroughly comb dry or slightly wet hair and comb it back. Part the hair to 3 equal locks: right, left and central.

Прическа для длинных волос «Классическая коса»

Take the right lock in the right hand, and the central lock in the left hand. Overlay the right lock with the central one.

Now the central lock becomes the right one. Take the braided locks in the right hand and the left lock in the left hand.

The left lock should be laid over the central one. Now take the left lock (the former left one) with your left hand.

And now put the right lock over the central one, then the left lock over the central. Braid the plait in such a way till it's needed. Fix the plait with a bow or hair pin.

If needed, you can braid a bow into the hair. To do so, the bow is fixed with the right and left lock.
To make two plaits, divide hair into 2 equal parts. To make it easier, pin the left lock back and start braiding the right lock.

When you finish the right plait, start the left one.

Curly hair

Curly hair can be very susceptable to frizzies. You can tame normal hair by a leave in conditioner, or something to that effect. But to my mind, the best way of keeping frizzies down is a light spritz of light hair spray, and when it get's dry, run your fingers through it. Not only does the hair spray hold nice zig-zag parts, but it also cozes the firzzies to stay down.
Curly hair becomes the curliest when it's wet. When your hair is only washed every other day, it's hard to keep those nice ringlettes perfect. One of the good ways of doing so is when it's wet, put it in nice curles that only loosen when brushed. I keep my hair down all day the first day, and in a "up condition" the second, or a braid.
Keeping curly hair can be a tough task. Sometimes you want them just to be straightened. I make my curles straight with a conair steam straitner. First, I dry my hair completely, and brush it with a boars bristled brush. I put my hair in a braid, and leave the braid over the night. When I wake up, the hair is wavy, but not in tick curles. I spray a little leave in conditioner, and when it dries, let the hair straitner go to work.
Washing hair is a real trip. First, it's long, then it's curly, then it tends to be dry. I use Aussie shampoo (it cleans really well) and panteene's freeze control. I keep the conditioner in for a couple of minutes before wash it out. While the hair has conditioner in it, I run my fingers, or a really wide toothed comb through it to get the tangels out. I don't brush it when I get out of the bath, and let it drip dry.

Age and gray hair

Gray hair represents the loss of pigmentation. It's wiry because it's sheathed in more cuticle than most hair. How good you look with gray hair is determined by its texture vis-a-vis the rest of your hair, plus how it goes with the tone of your skin and eyes. Graying hair is the start of a natural lightening process to which you should adapt the colors of your clothes and makeup. If you opt to go gray, sample a "blue" shampoo to inhibit yellowing. Try leave-in conditioners and moisturizers to soften coarseness. Consider having a professional add "lowlights" (streaking of your original color) to give shading to gray areas. Observe the pattern of graying (some heads gray all over, some acquire streaks, some gray grows in to frame the face) and have your stylist shape it to celebrate it. If you opt to color your hair, pick a tone one shade or two lighter than your original color. Going too light or too dark will make you look older. To test the look, try a semi-permanent solution that lasts 6 to 12 shampoos before going for lasting color.
